graduation style and the lbd

Updated Mrs. Robinson

Any big event in a woman’s life usually begs one burning question, “WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR?????” We look, we imagine, we shop, we try on, we try on and we try on again. My son’s graduation next week from Middle School had me pondering the same question. I have been hunting for an emerald green dress for a few reasons. Emerald green is the Pantone “Color of the Year” and I have been searching for something in its hue since the announcement. I also have dark hair and olive skin and apparently, as I have been told, brunettes wear that color well.
So I hit the mecca of So. Cal shopping, South Coast Plaza, with hopes of finding that amazing green-toned dress that had been eluding me (I could already hear the compliments in my head). And yet, I ended up with black. Yes, I bought another “Little Black Dress.” I just really, really loved the dress (which is a Karen Millen, the designer of the dress above). It felt good. I think it looks good on and I had a sense of confidence when that zipper went up and it was just the mirror and me (from EVERY angle).
I won’t feel bad about buying another black dress! Look at some of our most beloved style icons – Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Sophia Loren and Grace Kelly. I am certainly no style icon, but definitely channeling the very best!
